From 1 April 2020, Scottish Film Talent Network closed its new and emerging talent development strands.
For the last five years, SFTN has worked with a wide range of Scottish talent to deliver a programme of short films and feature film commissions along with a number of talent development opportunities.
Earlier this year, Screen Scotland undertook a review of its talent development offer including the activity delivered by SFTN. As a result of the review, we issued a call for a new delivery partner to continue this activity from 2020 - 2022.
News on the new delivery partner will be announced shortly but in the meantime, SFTN will continue to support the filmmakers commissioned in 2019/20, offer support and advice to new and emerging filmmakers in this transitional period, and promote the award-winning library of 50 short films developed and produced by SFTN since 2015.
More about SFTN
Scottish Film Talent Network (SFTN) offered new and emerging filmmakers significant support for individual film projects and professional development.
SFTN existed to connect with new and emerging Scottish talent – from new entrants through to first-time feature filmmakers - by providing tailored support which best suits individual requirements alongside wider funding schemes and short film commissions.
SFTN was a consortium made up of the Centre for the Moving Image (CMI), DigiCult and Hopscotch Films. SFTN represented Scotland in the UK-wide BFI NETWORK initiative which connects the UK’s film talent development agencies. The Scottish Film Talent Network consortium was awarded the contract by Creative Scotland and was supported by BFI.
SFTN ran a number of specific programmes supporting short films, talent labs at key international film festivals, and specific support to help filmmakers who are developing their first feature.
This initiative was the first to bring together industry practitioners in film development, production, finance, distribution, exhibition and festivals to pass on their expertise through comprehensive hands-on development opportunities.
