Launched at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in 2018, the Film Education Journal was established with support from Screen Scotland, in partnership with BFI, University College London Institute of Education, and Centre for the Moving Image.

Peer-reviewed but open-access, it is the world’s only publication committed to exploring how teachers and other educators work with film. Policy makers, cultural agencies and filmmakers contribute, as well as academics, researchers and educators from across the globe. Free teaching resources inspired by articles published in the Journal can also be found on their website.

Scottish International Film Education Conference

The Film Education Journal also hosts the annual Scottish International Film Education Conference which explores diverse perspectives on film education from around the world, from a variety of different perspectives within the process - classroom teachers, filmmakers, policy makers and academics.
