On Thursday 20 June, Screen Scotland will host an open session as part of the Edinburgh International Film Festival’s Industry strand at the Traverse Theatre.
The session will be led by Screen Scotland’s Executive Director, Isabel Davis, and is an opportunity to hear about what Screen Scotland offers. Specialist staff will discuss the support and services available, including new funding for professional development.
Our Screen Officer, Sean Greenhorn, chats a bit about what delegates can expect from the open session, Q&A, and networking event.
What is the Screen Scotland open session?
“Screen Scotland launched in August last year and is the new dedicated partnership for screen in Scotland.
"Our Open Session at EIFF this year is a great opportunity for film professionals to come and hear more about the support and services we provide for the Scottish film and TV industry.
“We’ll be chatting through our funds and answering questions that attendees may have about them – particularly the newer ones that people might be keen to learn more about.”
What can an attendee expect from a one-to-one?
“Delegates can sign up for a 15-minute focused meeting with one of our Screen Officers to receive professional advice and discuss any projects you might be working on. It’s a fantastic chance for us to meet and chat more with filmmakers, too.”
“The one-to-ones will take place from 3pm to 4.30pm at the Traverse Bar Café, just before the open session. They're currently sold out, but you can sign up for the waiting list. We’ll be hosting another session in the future, and we’ll be sharing full details closer to the time for that.”
What will the networking event be like?
“After the open session, we’ll be holding a networking event, inviting delegates to the Traverse Bar Café for a chance to chat, mingle, and discuss the day’s events and films we’ve seen with fellow EIFF passholders.
“The event is taking place from 6.30pm to 7.30pm and we can’t wait to see everyone who can make it along.”
How to book
To book tickets for the open session, which begins at 4.45pm, you can sign up via the Eventbrite page. The one-to-one sessions are currently sold out, but the waitlist is open.
