Sharp Shorts is a new opportunity for Scotland’s most exciting emerging filmmakers to help reinvent the nation’s reputation in the short film format.
Short Circuit are inviting writers, writer/directors or filmmaking teams of writer, director and producer to submit a one-page outline of their film idea. The best 15 ideas will be selected to work with the Short Circuit Talent Executives and will be supported to write the script for their film.
Following the development stage, the 15 shortlisted teams will each pitch their completed script to the Short Circuit selection panel. Up to 9 scripts will then be allocated a maximum of £15,000 to enable them to make their film. If a writer, director or writer/director does not have a producer attached at this stage, then the Talent Executives will help them to complete their team.
The teams will go through a rigorous and thorough development and production process, and will be responsible for everything from casting, shooting and directing to budgeting, contracting and marketing. The ambitions of each team will have to be high and workload will be heavy, in a deadline-driven, focussed, creative environment.
The Short Circuit Talent Executives will be on hand throughout, offering ongoing business and editorial support. Each short filmmaking team will also be able to access additional advice from a mentor, producer, or specialist in a particular genre, process or technology.
