Creative Skillset is the UK-wide strategic skills body that works with employers, individuals, trade associations, unions, learning and training providers, Government and its public agencies and other key organisations to ensure that the UK's creative industries have continued access now, and in the future, to the skills and talent they require.
They support the creative industries through a variety of programmes and by offering detailed information and resources on their website:
- Helping new young talent – through their trainee finder (placing trainees on UK Feature Films, Children's TV and High-End TV Drama), career navigator and apprenticeship guidance
- Helping creative businesses – by helping them set up creative apprenticeships, access funding to develop, deliver or receive training, and reach networks of trainees and creative professionals
- Helping creative professionals – through funding and bursaries for individuals and companies and the production of a range of helpful resources and toolkits for freelancers.
- Helping trainers and educators – through funding for delivering courses, apprenticeships and vocational qualifications.
Funding for much of the activity comes from the Skills Investment Fund, via a Production Levy of films and high end TV production.
