Screen NETS is an on the job training programme, focusing on new entrants and recently entered practitioners. They recruit from across Scotland for technical, production and design roles in scripted TV and film.
Their ethos is to open doors for those who can’t break into the industry due to barriers faced, have no friends or family in the business or the financial means to establish themselves as a new entrant.
They deliver their programme across a variety of scripted dramas and films and the trainees get experience working on different scales and types of production.
Screen NETS also delivers bespoke new entrant programmes for individual productions and can work closely with them to recruit and help select their own trainees for their chosen departments.
A positive action initiative, Talent Pathways, provides mentoring and career support for 6 individuals who are recently entered but still face barriers to progressing their career
Screen NETS are now open for recruitment for their 2023 programme and are recruiting 10 trainees across two stands
- Strand 1 will recruit 6 trainees for up to 9 months from across Scotland who have some basic skills and experience or transferable skills from other jobs or work
- Strand 2 will recruit 4 trainees/participants for up to 6 months who have already completed a short structured trainee programme on a drama series but would like further placements to progress OR have strong direct transferable skills from another sector OR Currently be established in the industry in a drama crew role and now moving into directing
