Screen Scotland, working in partnership with International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), is offering a fully funded place on Rotterdam Lab 2024. The next edition of IFFR will take place Thursday 25 January – Sunday 4 February 2024, with the lab running Saturday 27 - Wednesday 31 January 2024.
About CineMart and Rotterdam Lab
CineMart is as an informal market attended by a large number of international film professionals who are keen to invest in new film projects and who like to work in a professional, but easy-going atmosphere.
The aim of Rotterdam Lab is to give emerging producers the possibility to get acquainted with the daily routine at an international film festival and co-production market, but also to acquire as much information, inspiration and new tools as possible, work on their skill set and to enlarge their international network with acclaimed members of the international film industry.
2024 Lab
The lab will convene emerging producers from all over the world at Rotterdam for five days.
Who Is Eligible To Apply
Screen Scotland invites applications from producers based in Scotland who have produced two short films and have a feature in development that they are interested in co-producing internationally.
Your credits may be in scripted or documentary, across live action or animation.
What is included
The successful applicant will receive:
- CineMart registration badge
- 5 nights accommodation in one of the festival hotels
- Meals/daily subsistence
- Travel to and from Rotterdam
- Access costs if required
- Inclusion in IFFR Pro publications and the Rotterdam Lab Reader

The deadline for applications will be midnight Wednesday 22 November 2023.
How To Apply
If you are interested in the opportunity, please provide the following, which will form the basis of the assessment:
- A short biography, including relevant experience, company profile and credits (250 words max)
- A letter of motivation explaining why you will benefit from this programme (250 words max)
- Details of your feature project, in development (250 words max)
- Information on any other Screen Scotland support you have previously been, or are currently, in receipt of (e.g. Short Circuit, Little Pictures etc)

What Happens Next and How Will My Application Be Assessed?
Once we receive your application, we will check for basic completeness and eligibility. If you have not provided all of the information required, or if you do not meet the eligibility criteria, your application will not be assessed. You will be notified of this, and of the reasons why, by email.
Your application will be assessed on your film producing experience to date and relevant recent credits. It is expected that you will have a producer credit on either a short or feature that has performed well at film festivals. The assessment will also consider your reasons for attending the lab, including desired outcomes and an understanding of the benefits to your career as an international film producer.
Screen Scotland will be working in partnership with IFFR, and a shortlist of applications may be shared with the team there for review and input.
If you are successful, we will ask for a budget outlining travel and any access costs.
Timeline
We hope to inform all applicants as to the outcome by Friday 25 November 2023.
