Synopsis

Rona, fresh out of rehab, returns to the wild Orkney Islands after more than a decade away. As she reconnects with the dramatic landscape where she grew up, memories of her childhood merge with the more recent challenging events that have set her on the path to recovery.

Premiere: The Outrun received its world premiere at Sundance Film Festival 2024 and received its European premiere at the Berlinale as part of the Panorama strand. The film will receive its UK premiere as the opening night film at the Edinburgh International Film Festival 2024.

Theatrical release: The Outrun will be released in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on 27 September 2024, and in cinemas in North America on 4 October 2024. 

Filming Location: The film shot on location in the Orkney Islands including the island of Papay.

The Outrun has received positive reviews since its world premiere, including from Vulture and Vanity Fair.
