Screen Education

Screen Scotland believes that the development of Scotland’s future Screen sector begins with education, and that education is, long term, the best route to improve and widen diversity and inclusion across our sector.

We believe that every child and young person in Scotland should have the opportunity to make or collaborate in the making of film and screen products in their formal education and in their own time.

Film and Screen Education is the creative practice of learning about the practical art of Filmmaking and content creation. This includes learning about all aspects of the process of making of Film and Screen products. This may be film or content with a scripted narrative, documentary, animation, work with archive footage, creation of music videos or video art, experimental Filmmaking, exploration and creation of Film and Screen products in amateur and emerging Screen cultures, exploration and creation of online targeted content or anything else which focuses on understanding how the practice of making of Film and Screen products works. Film and Screen Education tells the story of what it means to be part of a collaborative and creative process.

Screen Scotland supports Screen education through our Screen Education Fund and Schools Screen Education Fund.
