NFTS: Virtual Production Training Programme

Part-time National Film and Television School (NFTS) Certificate designed to give students the foundation on which to build a virtual production career in the thriving VP industry

About

Screen Scotland co-sponsored the NFTS: Virtual Production Training Programme with Warner Bros. Discovery, which provides much needed support in an area with an immediate and growing skills shortage.

This part-time National Film and Television School (NFTS) Certificate ran for 24 weeks at Beaconsfield and has been designed to give students the foundation on which to build a virtual production career in the thriving VP industry.

Key artistic and technical disciplines identified include Technical Artists, Lighting Specialists, Colour Specialists, Technical Designers/Directors or VP Technical Generalists.

Screen Scotland’s support allowed the professional development of 6 Scottish based trainees.

Steven Little, Head of Production at Screen Scotland says: “Scotland’s studio offer has expanded significantly over the last two years, with projects of scale from Warner Bros. Discovery, Amazon, and many others filming in Edinburgh, Glasgow and across Scotland. To ensure our crew base grows and develops, Screen Scotland continues to invest record amounts into training, to expand and upskill the workforce and to keep pace with new technology.  Screen Scotland is pleased to be able to partner with the NFTS, StoryFutures Academy and Warner Bros. Discovery to give Scotland-based crew this essential training in Virtual Production.”
