How will I know my location has been received?
You will receive an automated confirmation e-mail from Reel-Scout. Locations may take time for staff to review due to heavy submission volume. If you do not see your location listed, it is either in the queue or has not been approved yet.
What happens after my submission has been reviewed?
Once reviewed and approved by the Screen Commission, your photos will be added to our database and available for viewing by location professionals worldwide seeking the perfect location for their projects. If there is interest in your property, you will be contacted directly and any agreement to use your property will be negotiated directly between you and the production.
How long until I hear from a production company?
It depends on what is about to, or currently filming in Scotland, and their location needs. A production company representative will contact you directly if and when your property is of interest. Please do not submit locations more than once. If you would like to know more about how productions choose a location, please contact us via [email protected] / +44 (0) 141 302 1724.
How much should I charge someone to shoot on my property?
Our office does not advise on location fees, which vary from project to project and has many variables. In most cases, the production will make a specific offer based on budget and shooting requirements.
Am I committing to filming by submitting photos of my property?
No. By listing your property and sending us photos you are not making a commitment of any kind. You are simply saying that you are open to the possibility of filming. If a production is interested in using your property as a filming location, the location manager will contact you to discuss the details and may arrange a scout.
How is liability insurance handled?
It is important that you check with the location manager or production representative that they carry the necessary insurance policies and levels of coverage to cover your property for the filming activity planned. This should also be included in the location agreement. As a public body we cannot provide contract examples or give legal advice when negotiating location contracts.
How can I update my listing with new photos?
Property owners cannot edit their listings via the website once submitted. To update any details or images, contact the Screen Commission team via [email protected] who will send you a one-time-use link to update your listing.
How can I verify that a location request is legitimate?
Location scouts may contact you directly or leave a letter expressing their interest in using your property as a filming location. If you have any concerns or would like to verify their legitimacy, you are welcome to contact the Screen Commission team via [email protected] or on + 44 (0) 141 302 1724.
