Creative Europe have shared details around the second edition of their Co-Production Weekender, taking a slightly different form this year due to COVID-19. Rather than taking place over one weekend, this year will see another 18 participants take part in six online sessions running from Monday 5 to Friday 9 October 2020.
With the UK losing access to Creative Europe this year, cross border collaboration is more important than ever but what does that look like in a post-EU Exit, post-COVID world?
Through a series of talks, case studies and group work with international industry experts, the Creative Europe will be looking to answer this question while examining some of the basics of putting a co-production together, from treaties and conventions to legal agreements, finding partners and sources of finance.
EAVE group leader, Roshanak Behesht Nedjad will kick off the week with an in-depth session on the whys and hows of co-production. She'll be joined by experienced co-producers from across Europe including:
- Katie Holly from Blinder Films in Ireland
- Leontine Petit from Lemming Film in the Netherlands
- Kurban Kassam freelance prdoducer from the UK
- Sol Bondy from One Two Films in Germany
- Zorana Piggott from 011 Productions in the UK
There will also be experts from the BFI Certification Team joining to discuss co-production treaties and conventions while lawyers Lee & Thompson will take participants through some of the legal aspects of putting a co-production together.
