The below list is a summary of Covid-19 updates around funding and support information across support groups and organisations relevant to our sector.

ACAS

ACAS gives employees and employers free, impartial advice on workplace rights, rules and best practice, and is an independent public body that receives funding from the government. The organisation provides advice on sick pay, home working, short-time working during Covid-19.

Bectu

Bectu is the union for creative ambition, representing over 40,000 staff, contract and freelance workers in the media and entertainment industries. Bectu are providing advice for members, including information for freelancers working in film and TV and workers in theatre, live events and the arts

Breathing Space

Breathing Space is a a free, confidential, phone service for anyone in Scotland over the age of 16 experiencing low mood, depression or anxiety. Contact them at 0800 83 85 87 (Open 6pm Friday to 6am Monday and 6pm to 2am Monday to Thursday).

Business Debt Line

Business Debtline offer free, impartial and confidential debt advice to small businesses and the self-employed.

Business Gateway

Business Gateway is a publicly funded service contributing to the economic wellbeing of Scotland by providing access to free business support services. Here they provide a list of free business resources that may be useful to you at this time.

Covid-19 Film and TV Emergency Relief Fund

The BFI and The Film and TV Charity have partnered to create a new industry-backed Covid-19 Film and TV Emergency Relief Fund to help support the creative community, which like many industries, has been devastated by the pandemic.

European Film Agencies

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak strongly impacts the audio-visual industry. National Film and Audio-visual Funds across Europe are already fully mobilised to take all necessary measures to mitigate the negative consequences for everybody working in the sector. European Film Agencies has created a summary that will be regularly updated and completed.

COVID-19 & Freelance Artist Resources

An enormous list of resources and links supporting freelance artists, and those interested in supporting the independent artist community. This includes, but is not limited to, producers, visual artists, filmmakers, writers and photographers.

HMRC

HMRC has a set up a phone helpline to support businesses and self-employed people concerned about not being able to pay their tax due to coronavirus (COVID-19).

Scottish Artists Benevolent Fund

Information and support for Scottish artists or their dependants who are mainly suffering from old age or ill health.

Scottish Artists Union

Advice for artists including information on working patterns, local and international travel and loss of earnings. They also have an impact survey to help Culture Counts to communicate the needs of the sector due to the impact of Covid-19.

Business helpline telephone number: 0300 303 0660. Open Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 5.30pm.

Support includes how to find out which benefits you can claim, Universal Credit, Employment and Support Allowance. Scottish Government have also created a summary of support for the Scottish culture and creative sector during Covid-19.

Scottish Welfare Fund

The Scottish Welfare Fund helps families and people in Scotland who are on low incomes through Crisis Grants and Community Care Grants.

SCVO

Covid-19 Third Sector Information Hub, SCVO members can access free legal advice.

Smallwood Trust

Women’s Resilience Fund - grants and support for women on low incomes who have specific needs and are struggling to make ends meet or trying to overcome financial problems

Step Change

Step Change are a debt charity offering free debt advice.

Talisman Charitable Trust

The Talisman Charitable Trust work on reducing UK poverty and hardship.

Trades House Glasgow

Trades House of Glasgow offers a number of funds for people living in the City of Glasgow and the surrounding areas who are facing financial hardship or other disadvantages.

Turn2us

Turn2us is a national charity providing practical help to people who are struggling financially. You can check benefit entitlement, search for a grant and find out information about benefits and coronavirus on their website.

Tutti Space provides a list of free resources for freelancers struggling in the UK because of COVID-19 and its widespread affects.

TV Production Guidance
