Hardship Fund for Creative and Screen Freelancers re-opening on Tuesday 2 March

The Scottish Government’s £9million Hardship Fund for Creative and Screen Freelancers, delivered by Creative Scotland and Screen Scotland, will re-open for applications at 2pm, Tuesday 2 March 2021.

Designed to support creative freelancers working in the arts, creative and screen sectors who are experiencing financial hardship due to the loss of income as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Fund will be open to both new and previous applicants to apply for up to £2,000 through the online application portal, which will be accessible via our funding page.

Full fund guidance, including eligibility criteria, will be available from 2pm on Tuesday on the Creative Scotland and Screen Scotland Hardship Fund pages.

Background information

  • The Scottish Government announced these additional £9million of emergency funds for Creative Freelancers on Thursday 11 February 2021.
  • A total of £74.9m in emergency COVID-19 funds for creativity and culture are being delivered by Creative Scotland and Screen Scotland in 2020/21, supported by funds from the Scottish Government, The National Lottery and the Freelands Foundation.
  • These funds have been put in place to help mitigate the immediate impacts of COVID-19 on the art and creative sector.
