Solace23 will return to Scotland this autumn to host another Script Circle workshop in Glasgow, running from 23-28 November 2026.
This exciting workshop will offer four writers or writer-directors and four producers the opportunity to develop their editorial skills and explore projects in an intensive but supportive environment.
All in-person sessions will take place in Glasgow from 23–28 November 2026. Producers will also be required to attend an online introductory session in advance of the workshop. Applicants should make sure they are available for the full programme.
For Writers and Writer-Directors (25-27 November)
The Script Circle workshop will take place from Wednesday 25 to Friday 27 November 2026. It will be structured around in-depth feedback sessions for four feature film projects brought by the participating writers or writer-directors.
Over the course of the workshop, participants will discuss each project in depth, allowing writers to consider their work from new perspectives while giving producers the opportunity to engage with scripts through a purely creative lens.
Writers and writer-directors should apply with a feature film project in active development. You do not need to have a producer attached to the project.
For Producers (23-28 November)
In addition to taking part in the above Script Circle, successful producers will also take part in a two-day training programme on Monday 23 November and Tuesday 24 November 2026, followed by a one day wrap up session on Saturday 28 November 2026.
These sessions will focus on the development process, including how to make informed editorial decisions, respond creatively to material and provide constructive feedback to writers.
Producers do not need to apply with a project or with a writer. The producer training is focused on developing participants’ editorial and project-development skills through working with the four projects selected for Script Circle.
We particularly welcome applications from producers applying independently, as well as writers and writer-directors who do not currently have a producer attached.
Existing writer/producer teams are also welcome to apply, but each applicant will be considered individually for their respective place on the programme.
About Script Circle
Script Circle is an interdisciplinary script and skills development workshop hosted by Franz Rodenkirchen and Françoise von Roy of Solace23.
Over the course of three days, participants will discuss four projects in depth. Writers, writer-directors and producers will be given the space to think creatively about scripts and provide peer-to-peer feedback in a supportive environment facilitated by Franz and Françoise.
The workshop allows writers to address specific questions arising during development, while the circle of peers acts as an early potential audience for the work. For producers, it offers an opportunity to deepen their understanding of creative development and strengthen their ability to engage constructively with writers and projects.
Alongside the project discussions, Françoise and Franz may explore broader aspects of writing visual narratives, including genre, character and writing for cinema without relying on the truisms of screenwriting.
Who Can Apply
This opportunity is open to writers, writer-directors and producers based in Scotland.
Applicants should have significant screen credits. This may include a short or feature film that has screened at a notable international festival, such as a BAFTA or Academy Award-qualifying festival, or significant broadcast credits.
We are looking for:
- Four writers or writer-directors, each applying with a feature film project in active development.
- Four producers, who do not need to bring or be attached to a project.
Existing writer/producer teams may also apply.
There will be a period of preparation before the workshop. Each participant will be expected to read and make notes on the other three selected projects in advance, so that everyone arrives prepared to give feedback and contribute fully to the group discussions.

The workshop will take place at the The Boardwalk, 105 Brunswick St, Glasgow G1 1TF.
The sessions will run 9.30am to 6pm on the dates indicated above.

Writers and writer-directors should note that their scripts or treatments will be shared with the other selected participants in advance of the workshop.
