Screen Scotland support: Screen Scotland’s Screen Commission was a vital part of ensuring that Scotland was used as a filming location. As first point of contact for The Odyssey team, their role was to pitch the initial locations, support the filmmakers to recce the country and then assist in facilitating collaborative working across the key councils, landowners, and various authorities to ensure filming can go ahead as smoothly as possible.


Synopsis

Odysseus, king of Ithaca, embarks on a perilous journey to return home after the Trojan War alongside his fellow soldiers. They soon find themselves battling not only the elements, but an array of deadly obstacles and mythical creatures along the way.

Filming locations: The historical epic filmed at locations across north-east Scotland’s Moray coast, including Culbin Forest, Sunnyside beach and Findlater Castle.

Theatrical release: The Odyssey was released in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on Friday 17 July 2026.
