Rakasree Basu is an India-born, Scotland-based producer and founder of Momentum Films. An EAVE Producers Workshop 2025 graduate, she works across international co-productions with a focus on globally resonant cross-cultural stories and bold, ambitious projects.
She has pioneered Nordic–Indian co-productions through her Mumbai-based company Frames Per Second Films, having co-produced the first Danish–Indian feature film Iqbal and the Jewel of India and Academy Award-nominated director Hannes Holm’s Swedish TV series The Most Beautiful Hands of Delhi.
Rakasree is currently co-producing Sands of Sarasvati, a Finland–UK eco-thriller with Helsinki-based Golden Globe-nominated Making Movies, supported by the Finnish Film Foundation and Screen Scotland.
She is also co-producing Oh! You Pretty Things, a documentary with Berlin-based Ma.ja.de. Filmproduktions in co-production with ZDF and ARTE.
A former consultant to the Indian Government’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, she was part of the team that helped formulate filming incentives for international co-productions and service productions filming in India. She has also served on the evaluation committee of India’s Film Bazaar Co-Production Market and as curator of the Film Bazaar Producers Workshop. She holds a Master’s degree in Cultural Policy from the University of Glasgow and sits on the Advisory Committee of British Council Scotland.
