Fast-Tracking Scottish Film Producer Talent

Screen Scotland has today, 20 June, announced a new initiative designed to enable Scotland’s most promising creative film producers to identify and develop strong new writing and directing talent, and material.

Leading Glasgow-based screen training provider, TRC will deliver the project which provides 4 producers with bespoke training and support as well as a bursary.

Led by freelance producer and trainer Julia Short, the two-year Film FastTrack programme opens for applications today.

Claire Scally, Managing Director of TRC said: “Working with Julia Short, we have developed Film FastTrack to champion Scotland’s film production talent. This two-year development programme will aim to fast track four ambitious film producers in building their career. We look forward to continuing to support emerging talent in the Scottish creative industries.”

Isabel Davis, Executive Director of Screen Scotland said: “The landscape for developing independent feature film has rarely been so challenging, both in the sense that producers struggle to keep body and soul together during that process, and that competition for creative talent, and ultimately audiences, is fiercer than it’s ever been. That’s why initiatives like this are so crucial.   Julia and TRC are the ideal partners to design and deliver this with us, and we’re thrilled to be working with them.

More information on guidance and how to apply to Film FastTrack can be found on TRC's website.

The deadline for applications is Tuesday 18 July at 5pm.

This is the latest industry initiative from Screen Scotland as part of its strategic talent development, aiming to develop key creative roles in Scotland’s screen sector, with previous schemes including: Factual Fast Track, BBC Scotland/Screen Scotland Emerging Directors, Young Films Foundation
