In response to the impact of Covid-19, Screen Scotland has created a Single Project Development Funding Route for Film.
The Single Project Development funding routes will provide £1million of ring-fenced funding for Scotland’s independent film and television production companies, supporting them to develop creative and ambitious single projects across film and television in scripted and unscripted genres, for live-action and animation over the coming 3-6 months.
The aim of these funds is to provide a fresh focus for development activity and help producers and production companies focus their energies and plans for future production.
The original Film Development and Production Fund is still open for slate development and production or production applications, full details below.
The Film Development and Production Fund exists to offer development and production funding for feature length films and documentaries being made by filmmakers based in Scotland.
This fund can support the following stages of the process:
- Single Project Development Funding: support towards the initial development costs of a single feature film or documentary project.
- Film Production Funding: support towards the production costs for a film or documentary project
The aim of this funding is to support filmmakers who are working in live-action, animation and documentary, to develop a range of feature film projects across all genres that reflect Scotland’s culture, creativity and diversity. We will support projects with international appeal that have the potential to be distinctive, high-quality and commercially and/or creatively-driven. We will also support projects that enable artists and filmmakers to take risks creatively.
