A Review of Artists’ Film and Moving Image in Scotland

Creative Scotland has commissioned a review of Artists’ Film and Moving Image in Scotland to provide a stronger understanding of the sector, and to help Creative Scotland/Screen Scotland identify future development needs, opportunities and priorities, and to help align its funding, development support and partnership working to effectively address need and opportunity.

The Review is intended to identify future development needs, opportunities and priorities based on a mapping of the Artists’ Moving Image sector in Scotland and an analysis of: the scale, scope and diversity of the sector; the existing methods of support for artists and creative practitioners to sustain and develop their practice; and the opportunities for this work to reach new and existing audiences.

Whilst commissioned by Creative Scotland, the review is independent, the AFMI Scotland Review aims to adequately and fairly represent, and critically reflect on, views expressed through the consultation process. It is vitally important that the sector has confidence in the Review and its process, and to this end, the Review aims to consult as widely as possible with those working in and with artists’ film and moving image: independent artists, curators and producers, and those working in galleries,
cinemas, archives, art and film festivals.

The surveys are for people based in Scotland, or from Scotland, but based elsewhere, and for people who work in Scotland or with artists based in Scotland. There are three - for artistsfreelancers, and organisations. It may be that you work across these categories, and if so, please feel free to contribute to more than one survey.
