Fully funded place to attend Realscreen Summit 2022

Screen Scotland is offering a fully funded place for an additional producer in Scotland to attend the Realscreen Summit in Dana Point, California from 6 – 9 June 2022.  

About the Realscreen Summit 

Realscreen Summit is the definitive global market and conference for the business of unscripted and non-fiction entertainment. It brings together creators, buyers and distributors of unscripted and non-fiction programming for meaningful pitching and networking opportunities. Realscreen offers an excellent opportunity to learn from industry leaders and to access potential partners, for companies with the right projects and ambition, with a strategic growth plan. 

The Summit is expected to be an in-person event (it has been moved from its original plan of Texas in January). It will take place at the Laguna Cliffs Marriott, Dana Point, California. (Read the Summit's COVID health and safety measures and admissions policy

Who is eligible to apply? 

Screen Scotland invites applications from Scotland-based production companies. We expect the applicants to be senior level executives in the company, such as managing director, creative director, executive producer or heads of department. 

Only one application per company will be considered. 

What is included?

If successful, applicants will receive: 

  • Accreditation - The Big Ticket 
  • Inclusion in the official UK Indies delegation* 
  • 5 nights’ accommodation   
  • Subsistence allowance 
  • Economy travel to and from California 
  • Access costs if required 

About the UK Indies delegation 

As part of this initiative, successful Screen Scotland applicants will be able to avail of the partnership benefits arising from Pact teaming up with the Department for International Trade (DIT), to offer UK indies the chance to be part of the official UK delegation at Realscreen. 

Being part of the UK Indies delegation brings added benefits including: 

  • Free access to a designated UK Indies room at the event, where you can hold meetings 
  • An invitation to the UK networking welcome reception 
  • Access to pre-market webinars
  • Your company branding to be displayed in the UK Indies room 

Pact will register the successful Screen Scotland applicants to be part of this UK delegation. 

What happens next and how will my submission be assessed?  

Once we receive your submission, we will check for basic completeness and eligibility. Your submission will be assessed on your company’s profile, track record, your reasons for attending the Summit, including desired outcomes, and an understanding of the benefits to your company’s and your projects’ progression. 

If you are successful, we will ask for a budget outlining your specific travel, accommodation, accreditation and any access costs, with a grant award then being made against that budget once approved.

Deadline 

Successful Submissions will be received up to 10am on Monday 11 April 2022. Successful applicants will be informed by 5pm on Tuesday 12 April 2022.

International travel  

Applicants for this bursary can receive support for international travel, as long as Scottish Government advice is being followed (including any guidance on, or emanating from, the particular international locations you are planning to work in/ travel to) and appropriate risk management plans are in place. 

As regulations are changing frequently, please check the Scottish Government and United States government websites regularly and be aware this guidance may have altered by the time the event is due to take place.  

Screen Scotland cannot be liable for any further costs incurred beyond those agreed in the bursary award, including any costs incurred as a result of further COVD impact and/ or change in Scottish or other government regulations before or during the term of the project. If the funded activity becomes unviable as a result of changes to government guidance Screen Scotland reserves the right to recoup all, or an element of, the funding. 

For the avoidance of doubt, Government guidance takes precedence over any statement by Screen Scotland.
